Remember, the audience is paying for your point of view: your agenda, your bias. Not for anything so crass as politics, but for insight, for hope and reassurance--or for upending the status quo, for a challenge, for their world to be shaken up. They want your art to make them feel something important, even if they can't put their finger on what it is--especially then.
